What standard tuition includes
Enrolling in a standard tuition course includes everything below, in maths, English or science, from Year 1 through to Year 13.
- Initial assessment for students up to Year 8 with ongoing 6 monthly written reports
- An individualised programme designed to maximise the student's learning
- A maximum 1:4 tutor/student ratio
- Up to 75 minute teaching sessions
- Set homework to consolidate new learning
- Incentive and reward systems to encourage learning and success
- A balance of computer and written work
- Creating a partnership with the class teacher to maximise learning
- Making learning fun
Before the first session
Students up to Year 8 sit an initial assessment using Ministry of Education approved tools, so the first programme starts at exactly the right level. Senior students talk through the standards they are working towards and the areas they want to lift.
Week to week
Programmes are written weekly around the topics being covered at school, so tuition consolidates classroom learning rather than running separately to it. Homework is set for students up to and including Year 8, with flexibility when other commitments get in the way.
All enrolments are for a minimum of 10 sessions. We assume enrolments will continue from term to term unless notified, and three weeks of notice is required. See session times and tuition fees for current costs.
